Savored.com: filling tables at restaurants and saving you $

This summer one of my friends from the GSB is interning for Savored.com, a startup in the restaurant reservation space. The value proposition is simple: you pay $10 up front for a reservation. The restaurant then gives your table a 30% discount off the entire bill. They’re guaranteed to fill an unclaimed table and you get a discount without having to pull a crumpled groupon printout out of your pocket at check time. The collection of participating restaurants in SF is not half bad. Best of all, the discount applies to the entire bill, including alcohol. A rowdy group of GSBers used Savored on Saturday night to book at table at Butterfly on the Embarcadero. They ended up saving $300. Needless to say they probably didn’t leave the best impression of the Savored customer base as it takes a lot of caipirinhas to get to a $1000 check for six people…
