Happy new year, and apologies for the extra long vacation. For those of you in the area, here’s information on an exciting upcoming event I’m organizing at the Stanford GSB (for directions: http://www.gsb.stanford.edu/about/directions.html).
The GSB FARM Club presents
Jamie Johnson and “The Inner Workings of the Avocado World”
Thursday, January 19th, 12-1pm
E103, Knight Management Center, Stanford
Join the GSB Food and Agriculture Resource Management (FARM) Club for a BBL featuring Jamie Johnson, current Vice Chair of the international Hass Avocado Board. Jamie will share insight into the international dynamics of the avocado trade, and the macroeconomic trends and challenges that are currently shaping the industry. In addition to serving on the Hass Avocado Board, Jamie sits on the California Avocado Commission Marketing Committee and is a fourth generation California avocado farmer at Rancho Simpatica in Fillmore, CA. Along with growing avocados in California, Jaime owns a company that grows avocados in Brazil for sale within Europe, and is well positioned to divulge the behind-the-scenes story of how avocados are grown, sold, and distributed around the world. Jamie will also share the story of his own decision to pursue a career in agriculture instead of options in banking and real estate.
